Stranded in China
So I’ve been living in Bangkok, Thailand studying abroad for the past several months. I decided to book a trip through Orbitz to China to visit a friend who was helpfully fluent in Chinese. Everything was fine, the trip was great. August 21st, I show up at the Kunming, China airport to find out that my flight home does not exist. I look at “My Trips” to find out that my 3:20pm flight on the 21st is now on the 22nd. My friend who spoke Chinese hopped on a bus hours earlier to keep travelling so suddenly I was stuck in China without the language, without a place to stay for the next 36 hours, and I was going to miss a midterm exam back in Bangkok. I sent Orbitz several emails asking them so KINDLY why they didn’t think it was important to email me that my flight had changed by 24 hours, but their response was essentially: these things are complicated. Fuck you, Orbitz, it’s just an email.

Feel sorry for you. But know what, I’ve been stranded too. While taking a shuttle to LaGuardia Airport on June 27, 2007, Orbitz called me on my mobile phone with a heads-up that my flight was delayed by a half an hour. A storm was rolling in. Orbitz called me again and again and again with a recorded message of the now obvious situation. Even at 1 a.m. Orbitz called to tell me of the cancellation of my flight. With a low battery, now 7 hours into the wait, I shut off my phone. Hysterical, I joined the rest of the stranded herd wherever we could find some comfort. Curious, I switched on my failing phone to find yet another message from Orbitz. They had already booked me on a noon flight on June 28. At that very tired moment, I cried tears of joy that Orbitz cared enough to help this very grateful stranded traveler. I will always use Orbitz!

You were at the airport right? Havent you asked the airline ticket counter about the change of your flight schedule….? My family and I were having a vacation in Hawaii last April, we were not notified by any changes but of course it is our responsibility to ask what happened to our flights.. You dont have to be DEPENDENT. You’re an idiot Its not the travel agency who changed your schedule its the Airline. Are you flying with ORBITZ? is it their plane? you’re funny asshole
